Why I am a Conservative

I grew up on a farm in a very conservative rural southeastern
Indiana environment. My parents and most of my family were, and still
are conservative, and those values no doubt rubbed off on me. But as I
look back and began to question things,I realized that those teachings
were not only the way I was raised, but those values are the only
techniques that “work.”

About the time I was forty , having experienced a good portion of
“life” , and not having everything turn out the way I had planned, even
though I had tried to do everything the “right” way, (get a good job,
join the right clubs, etc.) I began to question my values and look for
answers.

The journey I began took me to the corners of the earth, during
which time I studied the customs , ways, and beliefs of the Aborigines,
the American Indian, the Maya, the Egyptians, and many others.

Time and time again, the same answer keeps coming back to me.

I have found our society has become extremely entitlement
conscious,a lot of people want something for nothing and they think
that the government should pay for it.

They don’t realize that when the government pays for something,
those free benefits become very expensive, and vast amounts of waste
and corruption enter into the scene.

We keep inching closer and closer to socialism in the United States,
that is not what our founding fathers had in mind. Our country was
founded on the principles of a free market and individualism, that is
how we became the leading economic country in the world.

The human being thrives best when it is free to choose and make it’s own decisions, most people don’t want to be drones.

Socialism simply doesn’t work, when competition is taken out of the
mix, and people aren’t rewarded for achieving, all incentive is lost
and a lot of the new innovations are never innovated, because there is
no reward.

Government is never the answer, that has been proven world wide,
whenever any government tries to solve a problem, the problem just gets
worse.

Everything that can be done by the private economy should be left in
the private sector, sure greed enters into it,but when any one company
or sector becomes too “greedy” someone with a better idea and a cheaper
price comes along and knocks them off their pedestal.

We as individuals have to solve our own problems and take our life
into our own hands, that is the only way it works, it is governments job
to stay out of the way.
