Merry Christmas

The most joyous time of the year.

Christmas is a time to remember what we are thankful for and to praise God for all our blessings.

Time to remember the birth of Jesus and to contemplate what he means to us.

Let us all be joyous and celebrate the most sacred time in the Christian calendar.

John F Kennedy and the Tea Party

Many regard John Kennedy  as one of the finest presidents the United States was ever fortunate enough to have.

The democratic party often idolizes him and think they base their whole political philosophy on what he believed. What they have forgotten is how much the political beliefs have changed since his time.

In today’s world, the liberal philosophy is all about higher taxes, abortion, bigger government ,a  weakened military, eliminating free trade, and to them  communism is the preferred form of government. Many want to eliminate individual freedom and think all decisions that concern a person’s private life should be made by government.

These are all issues that John Kennedy opposed, he was pro-life, he was in favor of  keeping taxes as low as possible so businesses could compete on the world market. He was also  in favor of a strong military and saw a need for it because of the threat of communism that was prevalent in his day.

The liberals of today honor, idolize, and support John F.Kennedy , but no longer support those issues he stood for. If you don’t support what someone stands for, how can you support them?

They are only supporting the image and have never researched any farther. The haven’t realized how far to the left the democratic party has ventured.  If many of them would actually do some serious thinking and soul searching, they would come to realize their basic values no longer are represented by either party , especially the democratic party, they would have to make some serious changes in their political views.

The beliefs of both parties have changed drastically over the years, and while change is good, change for the sake of change isn’t always in the best interest of anyone. When making changes, one must remember to retain what is important and what works, We Americans have thrown the baby out with the bathwater.

If people actually thought about something besides the latest electronic device to hit the market place, many would begin to realize the times have changed and political parties aren’t  what they used to be.

Soon many would begin to understand that their views would better be expressed by either the Tea Party or the Libertarian Party, or another party of their choice. This would be quite a shock to many and I’m not sure their heart could handle it.

The Teacher and the Student

Many times in life, the teacher becomes the student and the student becomes the teacher.

As my daughters approached the magical age of 16, there arose a dilemma. Soon they would be getting a drivers license. Every parent handles this differently, many delay it as long as possible, while others can’t wait for them to start driving so they can finally escort themselves to all the events and activities teenagers become involved in.

For myself, I couldn’t wait. I was glad they were becoming independent and since I was divorced from their mother , I had to drive over to their house , pick them up on Saturday and take them back on Sunday evening. If they had a car they could drive themselves.

I decided to do the same as my parents had done. When they became sixteen, I bought them a car, not much of a car, but it ran and it was safe, paid the insurance for six months and handed them the keys. My reasoning was the same as my parents, once they had the car, they wouldn’t give it up. It was time to get a job so they could pay for the insurance and repairs. I would be a great lesson in taking responsibility and teaching a work ethic.

This worked fine , until the last kid became of age. I found an old Mustang for her. It didn’t run very well , but I assumed it was fixable.

My gut was telling me not to buy it, but I bought it anyway. I didn’t want to spend more time finding another car.

The car turned out to be a total night mare, we were never able to repair it so it would run properly and finally traded it off, and lost money on the deal, not counting the aggravation. Lesson learned, always listen to your instincts.

Thus I became the student, learning once again to listen to my instincts, instead of taking the assumed easier and quicker path.

Veterans of Color

I recently had the opportunity to view the film,”Veterans of Color.”

I thought it was an excellent film because it brought out many of the hardships our colored brothers and sisters faced while serving in the military in days gone past. Many of the conditions they endured should have never been allowed to take place . Those conditions went on for far too long and it is good these veterans are finally getting the recognition they deserve.

In the past, mankind has been very cruel to each other, and no race, creed, national origin, or ethnicity has been excluded.  At one time or another everyone has , and probably will be in the future, treated in an unkind manner. Power and money , as well as fear and lack of knowledge, corrupts.

This has always been the way of humanity, and from what I’ve read in history, things were a lot worse in times gone by than they are today. In the past people often acted like savages, not true so much today.

We need to move beyond this, hardly anyone is alive today that perpetrated or suffered under these conditions. Although we don’t live in a perfect world and never will , it is time to let bygones be bygones and stop punishing those who had nothing to do with the atrocities.

It is time to quit dwelling on the past , take the lessons learned and make this a better world because of it.

I have the greatest respect for all veterans, I am one myself, and it is time for us as Americans to once again start standing up for what is good and great about this great country we live in. We live in the greatest country to ever exist on the planet, it is time to preserve it for future generations.

The veterans of color need to continue to tell their story, however, they should consider another worth while mission.

Black on black crime is horrendous, 95% of blacks are killed by other blacks. Our young, especially the blacks need good role models , something that is blatantly obviously missing  in today’s society.

It is time to put aside the injustices of the past, it does no good to dwell on them. The time has come to forge ahead , taking what we have learned from past experiences and apply them to making our lives better in the future.

The Veterans of Color have a proud and distinguished history, and should be proud of what they have accomplished.

In my opinion, there are many who need their leadership and guidance to show the young  it doesn’t matter what hardships and barriers have been placed in your path, the only thing that really matters is how you overcome those obstacles and use them  to lead a successful life.

We all have two choices in life, to wallow in misery and despair, or rise to the top like these veterans have. Many need the guidance these brave men and women can provide.

America is in trouble, what can we do?
